This position provides basic support of the Goodwill Northern Michigan Food Services Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
  2. Perform work in a safe manner observing all Goodwill safety policies/procedures.
  3. Perform duties and interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner.
  4. Respect the diversity of others including, but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities.
  5. Manage daily tasks associated with the Meals on Wheels home delivery and congregate meal site meals.
  6. Responsible for food preparation and food safety procedures.
  7. Ensure quality and presentation when preparing menu items.
  8. Maintain great customer service internally and externally.
  9. Ensure a clean working environment that complies with the local Health Department and other agencies.
  10. Maintain relations with work site contracts and partners.
  11. Provide support with needs across the department where needed.
  12. Interact professionally and cooperatively with all Goodwill team members.

 

Essential Competencies:

  1. Good analytical and organizational skills.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  3. Ability to follow set recipes.
  4. Ability to keep current with food service industry trends and standards.
  5. Be flexible and provide support across department.
  6. Ability to train and supervise participants with current industries methods.
  7. Basic computer literacy required.
  8. Adhere to all policies and procedures as established in the Goodwill Industries Employee Manual

Reports to: Food Programs Manager

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

  1. A minimum of 5 years food service establishment required.
  2. Valid Michigan Drivers License is preferred.
  3. Current Serve Safe Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Familiarity with local human service providers and other community resources and agencies
  2. Good verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  3. Ability to multi-task
  4. Knowledge of and sensitivity to persons with disabilities or who are disadvantaged
  5. Self starting and personally motivated

Physical Requirements:

  1. Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to use hands to handle or feel and regularly sit and reach with hands and arms.
  3. Walking and standing are required.
  4. High, frequent, short deadlines r quiring abnormal effort and time.

Other Information:This position requires early morning hours.
